Years ago, after a hectic day of Christmas shopping and pictures, I took my family to Red Robin for dinner. I had no idea that one act of kindness from a stranger in the next booth would end up creating our favorite Christmas tradition.
We had just finished dinner, and I flagged the waitress down to ask for the check. She happily informed us that the couple in the booth next to us had paid for our dinner. I was shocked! I had never had anything like that happen before. I thought it was very sweet, but had no idea of the lasting impact it had on my kids until weeks later when my 10 year old daughter used her own $20 to buy somebody lunch.
I realized that this couple had shown my kids what true generosity looks like. It started a tradition of doing random acts of kindness throughout the month of December. Here are some of our favorites from years past:
