ABCmouse.com is a global education initiative of Age of Learning, Inc. Their goal is to help children build a strong foundation for academic success by providing a complete, engaging and fun online curriculum to help your early learner succeed in pre-k, kindergarten, and early elementary school programs.
I love that there is no advertising, pop-up ads, or links to other sites. Your child can learn and explore with you, or on their own, in a safe and secure online educational environment.
About the Website:
ABCmouse.com is a fun and captivating place for your kids to learn and build on foundational skills. You start by setting up your account and adding your children (you can add up to three!). My girls liked being able to create their avatars and spent a crazy amount of time perfecting them. After the avatars are created you can dive right in and start learning. The site has so much to do that it can be overwhelming at times, so here is what I like to do. I like to start my girls on their learning path, once they have completed their lesson plan, they can explore the site on their own and play whatever games they want.
The learning path focuses on one concept, in the case of my 3 year old, she focuses on one letter or number with each lesson plan. There are coloring pages, puzzles, songs, games and printables that all focus on that one letter or number. My 7 year old’s learning path would have phonics and basic math concepts. It is completely customizable and it’s very easy to meet your child where they are by changing the level of their learning path with a simple click of a mouse.
Once they have completed their learning path for the day, I click on the map and that opens up a whole educational wonderland for them to play with. They can visit the zoo and become a zoologist for the day. They can be a farmer with a simple click on the farm, or they can channel their inner diva by heading to the mall. The other areas on the map are the classroom, library, and toddler town. Each of these areas has a bunch of entertaining and educational activities.
This website is one that will keep my girls busy for hours! Which is especially helpful on a day when I have laundry escaping down the stairs or dishes that are trying to recreate the Tower of Babel. The best part is that they are learning the entire time.
I HIGHLY recommend ABCmouse.com to any family looking for a quality online program that the kids will love too. Way to go ABCmouse.com, you created a great program!
