Have you ever been in the elevator with someone that smells like he must have bathed in body spray? It’s like he is surrounded in a cologne cloud that probably won’t dissipate until he showers again and probably starts the whole cycle over.
Fortunately Old Spice has decided to try to stop this crime against humanity by cutting it off at it’s source. They have teamed up with the “Old Spice Guy” AKA Isaiah Mustafa to try to teach teenage boys how to “scent responsibly”. Isaiah will be visiting various high schools across the country in attempt to stop the epidemic of over scenting. YAY!
My son and I were very privileged to be a part of this campaign as it came through Atlanta last week. Not only did we get to see the Old Spice Guy in action teaching boys why they need to scent responsibly and how to scent properly, we also got to hang with Isaiah Mustafa and find out what an awesome person and role model he is in real life.
Turns out he and my son had quite a bit in common, Isaiah is the baby of 7 kids including 5 sisters, my son and him were swapping stories about what life with 5 sisters entails. He talked to us about how he became the Old Spice Guy and how he is really shy in real life and the Old Spice Guy character has helped him come out of his shell. He confided to us that he is partial to Old Spice’s bar soap and his favorite scent is Hawkridge (guess what my son’s favorite scent is now? LOL) I was grateful for the personal scenting tutorial that he gave my boy, now he knows how much is too much 🙂
I love that Old Spice has brought back Isaiah Mustafa as the Old Spice Guy (check out the Old Spice soundboard featuring Isaiah and his best lines in celebration of Old Spice’s 76th anniversary) and more importantly that they are trying to save my senses by teaching teens that it is not okay to walk around in a cloud of man scent.
