A Weekend at the Remarkable Wildflower Inn, Vermont
I am so excited to share this adorable little piece of heaven with you today. Read on to discover the wonder of the Wildflower Inn, Vermont.
For the first time in a long while I was able to get away with a couple of my kids and experience a vacation being almost completely unplugged from the outside world. I’m not going to lie, it was a tad scary but it was one of the best things I’ve done for myself and my kids in a long time.
In today’s world, we are so committed to our cell phones, tablets and laptops that it’s tough to take a vacation and truly get away from it all. Even when we plan for it, it usually doesn’t last long.
The Wildflower Inn, Vermont offers an unforgettable unplugged family experience and is THE GO-TO place if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of life. If you are looking for a trip that will satisfy the entire family, there is no doubt that a trip to The Wildflower Inn should be your next summer vacation.
Located on a dirt road, this quaint little inn is picture perfect and offers sweeping Vermont views in every direction. The inn’s multiple buildings sit atop a hill overlooking a green and lush valley; it is truly picturesque.
Jim and Mary O’Reilly are the most delightful innkeepers. They have owned the inn since 1984 and they’ve poured their heart into this place and it shows.
The Inn has 24 rooms and suites throughout multiple buildings situated in a village like setting. You won’t find fancy turn down service here but you will find quaint country charm, nature at its finest and some of the kindest people on the planet.
Although you won’t find any TV’s in the rooms here at The Wildflower Inn, you will find plenty of ways to connect with your family at the Inn and around town.
If you’re more the “staying in” type, you don’t have to leave the Inn to enjoy yourself. During the summer months, you have access to an in-ground heated pool, kiddie splash area, playrooms and playground, badminton, horseshoes, shuffleboard and more. The property is a wonderful place for a hike and the gardens are a great place to simply unwind.
The Wildflower Inn also offers easy access to the sought after Kingdom Trails, a must-see hot spot in the area. Kingdom Trails offers nicely groomed non-motorized trails mixed with gorgeous views and wooded tranquility. The trails cater to mountain bikers of all skills and types with a bike shop on site where you can rent any gear you need. The area is designed to accommodate cyclists and some say it’s the best riding on the East Coast. Explore their events page where you’ll find unique opportunities for riding, hiking, and entertainment all year round.
Did I mention the amazing views? Take a short hike across the road and sit on Heaven’s Bench while watching the sunrise. Feel the tranquility wash over you as you take in the stunning 360 views while the sun rises in one direction and the moon sets in the other.
Popular summer attractions away from the Inn include taking a dip in the swimming hole behind Rubylee’s
Spend the afternoon kayaking the Clyde River. Clyde River Recreation is the rental outfitter of choice for paddlers of all skill levels. Their 5.5 mile lazy river paddle with various obstacles and mixed scenery makes for a safe fun kayaking experience for children and beginners.

Now onto my favorite vacation subject. Food! No vacation is complete without sampling all the local eateries, am I right? Nearby you’ll find the Burke Mountain Confectionary which offers the BEST maple truffles on the planet!! Seriously, you have to try them.
Then there are the maple creamies from Rubylee’s. You can not leave Vermont without a maple creamy.
Café Lotti makes the best sandwiches on the east coast all served inside a historic turn of the century church.
Mike’s Tiki Bar serves up cocktails, beer and wine with live music while The Vermont Food Truck dishes out the best burgers in the state along with on tap, made from scratch, root beer (must try!).
The real treat though is at Junipers restaurant, serving grass fed beef from Mary’s parent’s farm next door as well as the most amazing raspberry white chocolate scones I’ve ever had; and of course, they are personally made by Jim every day. They also have an extensive gluten free menu which means Juniper’s offers great food that the entire family can enjoy.
Visit the Wildflower Inn, Vermont and you’ll come home feeling revived, in touch with your surroundings and a renewed connection with your family. After all, isn’t that the point?
