Girlfriend’s Getaway to Chateau Elan

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it at least a thousand times. Moms need a vacation. It’s so easy to get swept up in the day to day tasks of caring for your family and end up completely neglecting your own needs. That’s why I insist that my fellow moms and I get away at least once a year. It doesn’t matter where we go, the point is to get away from the demands of our families for just a few days and focus on us.

This last trip we decided to skip the hustle and bustle an opt for a relaxing and luxurious weekend nestled in the north Georgia foothills at Chateau Elan Winery.

The Spa at Chateau Elan

Our weekend kicked off with a visit to The Spa at Chateau Elan. The relaxing, European-style Spa is nestled inside a 35,000 sq ft french providential inspired mansion that offers relaxing views of the sparkling lake. Inside is just as serene with elegant furnishings and all the amenities to promote total relaxation.

I opted for a rejuvenating facial, cause let’s face it, I’m getting older and motherhood is wreaking havoc on my pores. It. Was. Amazing. My esthetician was absolutely phenomenal, she knew exactly what I needed and made sure that I was as comfortable as possible throughout the entire process. I left there feeling incredibly refreshed and energized.

Other services at the spa include massages, pedicures, manicures (including the signature champagne and chocolate caviar pedicure) and body wraps. All spa services include all day access to the spa.

Winery

After our hour of pure relaxation, we decided it was time for some wine. Let’s face it, no girlfriend’s getaway would be complete without some serious wine-ing. We headed over to the winery where we had booked a tour and tasting (8 flights! Hello vacation!) The tour gave us a behind the scenes look at the process of making all the wine varieties available at Chateau Elan. Next up, wine time!

When you check in for your tour, you are given a wrist band that will keep track of your flights as you indulge in some top shelf wines that will excite your palate. If you feel like 8 flights of wine is too much in one night (yeah right, as if there could be such a thing as too much wine) you can actually carry over your flights into the next day. Some of my favorites included Belle Reserve, Pinot Noir and surprisingly the Muscadry Red.

Dining

Chateau Elan boasts 7 onsite dining options. We had our first meal at Paddy’s Irish Pub. This completely authentic Irish pub (all the decor and furnishings were actually made in Ireland) was packed when we arrived, but we managed to find a table. We were ravenous and couldn’t wait to dive in! We tried a lot food, but the night’s winner was the steak boxty. If you don’t know, a boxty is a traditional irish potato dish, basically like a potato pancake, however the folks at Paddy’s kick it up a notch by stuffing it and smothering it. Ours was stuffed with steak and smothered in a creamy white sauce that was to die for. This is a must not miss creation. I would seriously drive out there again just for a bite.

Our other favorite restaurant was Versailles. We loved the breakfast buffet complete with omelette and waffle station and all the other traditional breakfast favorites. Pro-tip: Since the restaurant has a glass ceiling, make sure you find a shady spot to sit or you’ll get really hot really fast 🙂

The Inn

I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about the luxurious rooms available at the Inn. Inspired by the french countryside, these spacious, beautifully decorated rooms feature a cushy pillow top mattress (uber comfy!) large spa tubs and more to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Don’t forget to stop by the pool, after all it’s not really a vacation unless you are soaking up some sun with a fruity drink in your hand!

Chateau Elan was the perfect weekend escape for me and my fellow frazzled moms. It gave us time to relax, unwind and indulge in some much needed “me” time! If you are looking for the perfect spot to unwind with your girlfriends, Chateau elan should be at the top of your list! In fact you can even take advantage of specials like the “Girls just wanna have wine” package or “Spa rejuvenation” package.
