Self Serve Snacks for Busy Families
How many times a day do you hear “Mom, can I have a snack?” or “I’m so hungry!” I can honestly tell you that with 6 kids, it is an almost constant stream in my house. I don’t have time to make healthy snacks for the kids several time per day, so I have had to come up with snacks that are both healthy and self serve for my always hungry kiddos.
Because I love you all, I’m happy to share my secret snacking weapons with all of you. Here are my go to Self Serve Snacks for Busy Families:
Pretzels: To save money, I buy a big bag of pretzels and portion them out in plastic bags for easy grab and go snacks that aren’t loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients.
Grapes: Nature creates the best snacks and grapes are a great portable and easy to serve snack that I don’t mind my kids grazing on all day.
Trail Mix: Full of healthy nuts, raisins and granola, this is another snack that I buy in bulk and portion out in plastic bags for easy kid access.
String Cheese: Milk does a body good, chock full of calcium and vitamin D, cheese is a fantastic healthy snack option that is both filling and fun.
Veggie Bags: I like to fill a plastic bag with my kids favorite veggies, usually carrots and grape tomatoes, and encourage them to eat them as often as they would like.
Fruttare Bars: This is the favorite self serve snack in our house, hands down. The kids love the taste and I love that Fruttare® fruit bars are made with great-tasting fruit that is sourced from sustainably farmed strawberries, coconuts, bananas, and limes. Our family favorites are Mango (made with deliciously luscious mangoes) and Black Cherry (made with sweet black cherries and real juice).
Letting your kids choose their own snacks encourages independence and promotes good decision making skills. Make it easy on yourself and fun for for them by providing these easy and delicious self serve snacks.
