Knowledge Quest was founded by a homeschool family that saw a need in the homeschool marketplace and decided to fill that need by creating materials that homeschoolers could really use. They started out with simple black and white maps that children could label and color while studying both world and American history. Over they years they have expanded and now sell 10 foot wall time lines, a hardcover timeline book, a historical biography series, games, classes and more! Their most recent release is the third volume in the A Child’s Geography series.
A Child’s Geography; Explore the Classical World, is a wonderful learning tool for teaching kids about ancient worlds. The countries covered in the book are:
It is very easy to use and read, and is fantastic for all ages up to 6th grade. My older kids were able to work independently, while my little ones worked with me on the lessons and activities. This is a very self paced curriculum. If you have a child that likes to learn about history (like my 9 year old) you can easily stretch the lessons over several days so they get the chance to really absorb the information.
Each lesson is thorough and detailed, there are colorful maps and activities to go with each chapter. I loved that they gave multiple options for activities, with kids that have different personalities it was nice for them to be able to choose their activity or activities.
I was very pleased with this book, it is a fantastic ancient history curriculum that is versatile and thorough. Once we are done with this book I will be getting the volumes 1 & 2 for sure. My kids really enjoyed learning geography, history, art and much more from this book. You can preview the first 3 chapters of the book here. Check it out! You won’t be disappointed!
