I’m a sucker for a good hummus recipe. I’ve kind of become addicted to it lately and can think of nothing better to snack in the afternoon than some hummus and veggies or even better, some yummy Wild Rice Works Crackers.
These tasty crackers popped up on the shelves at my local Walmart a few months ago and I have been hooked ever since.
Why am I so in love with these particular crackers? Okay here’s the scoop…. First and most importantly, they are gluten free. Second they come in a variety of yummy flavors, are made with whole grain brown rice and 0 trans fat. Healthy and delicious in one package!
So I’ve been experimenting with different hummus recipes awhile ago and after several horrific failures (one day I’ll tell about the roasted red pepper hummus saga) I kind of gave up, but since I’ve been trying to eat much cleaner, I have been back in the kitchen trying some new ways to spice up my everyday hummus.
One of the best ways I discovered was adding avocado, feta and some hot sauce. It really makes a delighful combination that goes great with veggies, crackers or flatbread.
Making this yummy treat is so easy, you can have great tasting hummus with a kick in less than 5 minutes!
Ingredients:
1 can chickpeas
2 avocado sliced
1 tsp garlic
1 cup feta cheese
1 tsp salt
2 tsp hot sauce
1 tbsp tahini paste
2 limes juiced
Directions:
Put all the ingredients in a food processor and blend on high until smooth and creamy.
That’s really it! So simple.
So while we are on the subject…. What is your favorite type of hummus?
