Are you a morning person? I’m not. Like at all. It is really hard for me and most of my kids to get going anytime before 9:00 am and even then it’s like pulling teeth to get them to start schoolwork, or do their chores, or open their eyes. They seriously drag themselves around like zombies until noon and honestly I’m not any better.
Since I’m not a coffee drinker, I’ve had to come up with other ways to kick-start my mornings in a healthy way that won’t leave me dragging again after lunch. One of my go to ways to kick sluggish kids (and mom) into gear is with a yummy protein and fruit packed smoothie. I’ve started experimenting more with smoothies and have found a few that the kids love and are packed with good for you ingredients that give the us a natural energy boost without the usual crash.
One of our favorite smoothies is this Sunrise Breakfast Smoothie. Made with Vanilla Chobani Greek Yogurt, frozen strawberries and pineapples and fresh oranges, this smoothie is sure to make mornings go a little “smoother” (see what I did there? Haha!).
I prefer to use Chobani yogurt in my smoothies for a few reasons:
It’s packed with 3 different kinds of probiotics (crucial for a healthy immune system!)
More protein that traditional yogurt
Non-GMO and free from artificial sweeteners and ingredients
Chobani Greek Yogurt is definitely something you can feel good about serving your family, so head to your nearest Kroger store and grab some so you can make this delish smoothie too!
Sunrise Breakfast Smoothie
2 cups coconut water
1 cups Chobani Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup frozen pineapple
1 fresh orange peeled
Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix on high until well combined. To make layers, mix the strawberries, pineapple and oranges separately each with a 1/3 of the yogurt and coconut water. Pour the orange first, then the strawberry and top with the pineapple to create a sunrise effect 🙂
