If you follow me on Facebook (and if you don’t, you totally should!) you know that one of my best friends and I headed to Kissimmee FL for a much needed moms’ getaway weekend. Our top priority was rest and relaxation, something neither one of us had had in months.
We started off our first full day in Kissimmee at Gaylord Palms. This spectacular resort is home to 4 restaurants, golf course, waterpark, adult pool and 3 themed Florida environments to wander through. We meandered through the Everglades, Key West and St. Augustine, finally ending up at Villa de Flora for brunch.
Villa de Flora is a Mediterranean themed restaurant for dinner and a full buffet for breakfast, complete with unlimited Mimosas and a doting waiter showering us with compliments. Just what 2 battle weary moms needed.
The food was amazing and plentiful with made to order omelet station, medallion waffles, pancakes, pastries, bacon, sausage, oh my….. the list was endless. The staff kept the stations immaculate and stocked with fresh food. The restaurant itself was peaceful and tranquil, we had a table near the indoor waterfall and we were able to just enjoy the calm all around us. It was wonderful.
It was painful to leave, but the promise of massages at Relache Spa made it bearable. We headed back through the St. Augustine atrium, stopping along the way to check out the alligators and the turtles in one of the ponds. Apparently we weren’t the only ones feeling completely relaxed at Gaylord Palms, the tranquility must have been in the air, as these guys were perfectly chill and content.
Upon our arrival at the spa, we were taken to the dressing room where we changed into robes and slippers, we were then led into one of the two relaxation lounges to wait for our massages. Serene doesn’t even begin to describe this place, comfy chairs, soft instrumental music, bubbling fountains and the light scent of lavender hanging in the air was enough to put us completely at ease as we waited.
Soon our masseurs arrived and led us back to our rooms and our massage began. I opted for a hot stone massage, it was exactly what I needed to release all the stress and tension I had been carrying around for months. For the first time in forever, I felt complete sedate, completely calm and completely relaxed.
When the massage was finished I walked in a daze to the second relaxation lounge, next to the sauna and steam room. I was too relaxed to move, all the demands of the kids, my husband, my life simply faded away. It was pure bliss.
Our visit to the Gaylord Palms was perfection from start to finish. We went in 2 frazzled, stressed out and tense mamas and left relaxed, calm and ready to take on the world. If you are visiting Kissimmee with your family or on a kid-less adventure, make sure that you take some time to re-energize at the Gaylord Palms, it is just what every mom needs once in awhile.
