My family and I recently took a last minute vacation to Jekyll Island, GA. With all the craziness we have going on in our life, we just needed to get away from it all for a few days. We had a blissful couple of days, biking around the island, lounging by the pool, hunting for shells on the beach and roasting marshmallows at the hotel’s giant fire pit.
To say it was the perfect vacation is an understatement. It was exactly what we needed after a stressful couple of weeks with all of us being pulled in 30 different directions.
Out of all the stuff we did, I think we all enjoyed the nightly marshmallow roasts more than anything. Seriously, what is better than charred marshmallows on a stick? Of course if you are roasting marshmallows then you have to make s’mores! We wanted to kick up our s’more experience just a little bit. We had hit a local Walmart on the way down to pick up the classic s’more supplies (Kraft Jet Puffed Marshmallows, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars and Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares).
While we were there, we decided that strawberries would make a great addition to our s’mores. Chocolate and strawberries are a natural combination, so it seemed like the perfect ingredient to take the classic s’more to the next level 🙂
Turns out we were right and it was a perfectly delectable treat, slightly more sophisticated than your average s’more. And guess what? They took less than 10 minutes to make. You really don’t have any excuse not to spoil your family with these goodies!
Ready to get started?
Step 1:
Place 2 graham cracker squares on a plate and set 2 strawberry slices on each cracker.
Step 2:
Put 2 pieces of Hershey’s chocolate on top of the Strawberries.
Step 3:
Roast the marshmallows. How long is a matter of preference, some people like a slightly toasted marshmallow, while I like a marshmallow that is completely charred on the outside but soft and gooey on the inside
Step 4:
Using a knife or fork carefully place the roasted marshmallow on top of the chocolate on one piece of graham cracker. Put the other graham cracker (with strawberries and chocolate) on top. Let the s’more site a few minutes so that the marshmallow melts the chocolate.
Step 5:
Eat and enjoy!!
